Converting an existing CodeFluent Entities project to the new Visual Studio CodeFluent Entities format (.cfxproj)

Because the new CodeFluent Entities Modeler Edition is integrated with Microsoft Visual Studio, it understands a  new file format with the .cfxproj extension.

Although the .cfxproj file content is very easy to understand (as it’s based on Xml), we ship today, with existing versions, two ways to convert your existing projects to this new format.

  • The CodeFluent Entities Builder console tool (CodeFluent.Build.exe) has a new argument named “ConvertVS”. You can use it this way, with the path to an existing model:
    CodeFluent.Build.exe /convertvs:c:\temp\test.xml

This will popup with a Folder Browser dialog box. Specify  the target directory where you want the tool to generate the copied package.

  • The CodeFluent Entities Meta Modeler GUI tool has also a new menu, Tools / Visual Studio Model Converter.

CodeFluent Legacy Model Conversion

Please note the tool does not convert inplace, it’s designed to copy all files and satellites to the target directory. Some files may not be copied over if they are referenced with preprocessing attributes of some sort, so you may have to copy them manually.

Happy conversion!
